Rich Johnson



    Rich Johnson is a publishing consultant, and the Founder of Brick Road Media, LLC. Most recently he was VP Sales, Marketing and Business Development at Lion Forge Comics, where he acquired Lighter Than My Shadow a graphic memoir that was named Best Graphic Novel of the Year by Amazon. 

Johnson was Co-Founder and Co-Publishing Director of Yen Press, a manga imprint as well as Yen Plus, a monthly manga anthology. During his time as VP Book Trade Sales for DC Comics,  Rich took the forefront in establishing graphic novels in the bookstore and library markets.

    While at DC he was responsible for creating a sales and marketing strategy for Neil Gaiman’s Sandman Endless Nights, which went on to be the first original graphic novel to hit the New York Times Bestseller list. In 2011 he was selected as a judge for the prestigious Eisner Awards, what is considered the Oscars of comics.

Syndee A. Barwick



    Syndee Barwick is founder of Mythic Media Management, an entertainment and publishing consultancy, focused on brand building, marketing, and merchandise. She launched her entertainment career in the music industry as an artist manager, guiding the careers of musicians, including Grammy and Golden Globe-winning musician, KITARO.  Barwick entered publishing at DC Comics/Warner Bros, working with the biggest brands and talent.  As Marketing Director, then Director of Product Management, she established DC Direct, DC’s in-house merchandise division – pivotal in changing the business of comics merchandise forever and the model on which all other comics collectibles companies based their business. As VP of Marketing, Merchandise, and Product Development at Lion Forge, Barwick oversaw multiple areas of responsibility for the company and for best-selling, award-winning, and critically-acclaimed titles and talent.

    Currently, Barwick is the Director, Sales & Marketing - Book Trade at VAULT Comics - the comic industry's premier indie comics publisher specializing in sci-fi, fantasy, and horror. Titles include: Heathen, The Autumnal, and These Savage Shores .

Jonathon L. Gilbreath



    Jonathon Gilbreath has worked in the fields of entertainment, design, education, and government for over 22 years. He has developed a strong foundation in visual design, creative development, and media production which has aided his clientele throughout many countries.    

    Working with the U.S. Department of Defense Psychological Operations, Jonathon developed and taught specialized curriculum while managing international PSYOP/P.O.B.S. productions. As a Producer and Director of immersive theater & dome/VR content for audiences throughout 25 countries, he pushed the limits of technical artistry, animation, and VFX through stylistic visual representations including the acclaimed Pink Floyd albums, A Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall.

    Throughout the years, Jonathon has taught professionals and students from around the world on subjects including art, conceptual design, visual storytelling, production, and creative observation.

James Killen



    For over four decades, Killen has been an integral and influential part of the book market, helping to grow the careers of dozens of bestselling authors as Science Fiction, Fantasy, Role Playing Games, and Graphic Novel buyer at Barnes & Noble. Killen is directly responsible for building these categories, both from a revenue and prestige point of view.

    He identified future stellar talent and helped build the careers of countless authors and artists, including: Neil Gaiman, Marjorie Liu, Kim Harrison, and George R.R. Martin. Under Killen, graphic novels and manga grew 1,500%. Key to the explosion and impact of graphic novels in the mainstream because of Killen, in 2015, in an unprecedented move, Barnes and Noble doubled the space of graphic novels in every location.  Killen is currently the Editor-at-Large for Rebellion Publishing.


Kris Longo



    Kris is the co-founder of Modern Fanatic, a newly-launched firm dedicated to “turning fandom into brandom” for consumer brands looking to connect with pop culture affinity groups through creative custom solutions.

    Previously, Longo founded the sales representation firm Geek Riot Media LLC, and held strategic sales and marketing positions at DC Comics, MAD Event Management and Bonfire Agency, where over the years he created winning programs for LEGO, Bernina of America, Turner Broadcasting, J!NX Apparel, Sony Pictures and many more.

    Longo also presently serves as Chief Sales Officer for HEAVY METAL, the venerable sci-fi, horror and fantasy magazine. His “to-read” pile is presently out of control.
